
Eman is a witness poet who is passionate about teaching, the environment, and the intersection of subjectivity, economics and our planet. She holds a Ph.D. in Creative Writing-Poetry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she was the recipient of a Folsom Award, and received her MFA in poetry from Arizona State University. Her first poetry collection, Raghead, was the Editor’s Pick in the 2018 New Issues Poetry Prize and a finalist in the 2021 Oregon Literary Annual Poetry Prize. She was also one of the founders of The American University of Kuwait and part of Zayed University’s start-up team. Her editorial experience includes working as an associate Editor at Ploughshares and Hayden’s Ferry Review, where she also worked as their International Poetry Editor. Her poems and poetry translations have appeared in Blackbird, Ilonot Review, Mizna, Painted Bride Quarterly and Texas Poetry Review, among other journals. Her poem, “Coyote Run”, was recently nominated for a Pushcart Prize (SWIMM).
